Zinc Matrix Power Part of IDF Beijing Panel on Extending Battery Life
CAMARILLO, CA – April 13, 2007 – Troy Renken, vice president of Product Planning at Zinc Matrix Power, Inc, will discuss the performance and benefits of silver-zinc rechargeable battery technology at the 2007 Spring Intel Developer Forum, scheduled for April 17-18 at the Beijing International Convention Center in Beijing, China. This year’s event promises to be the largest IDF ever held in China. Throughout the conference, keynote speakers will address topics under the forum’s theme: “Power Your Innovations.”
During the Spring IDF, Kamal Shah, Intel’s manager of Mobility Enabling Initiative, Mobile Platforms Group, will moderate a technology track called "Enabling Longer Battery Life for Mobility." Renken will represent Zinc Matrix Power’s silver-zinc rechargeable battery technology within that track’s session, entitled: “Realizing the Vision of ‘All Day and Beyond’ Battery Life for Mobile PC’s.” Session attendees will not only hear a presentation on the improved performance, added safety and environmental benefits of Zinc Matrix Power’s silver zinc technology, but they will also see a demonstration with working models of a notebook computer silver zinc battery and a smart phone silver zinc battery.
“In order to achieve longer battery life for mobile PCs, innovation in power sources technology is essential," said Kamal Shah, manager, Mobility Enabling Initiative, Mobile Platforms Group, Intel Corporation. "ZMP’s silver-zinc battery technology has strong potential for delivering safe and high capacity power source for Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology-based mobile PCs.“
Zinc Matrix Power rechargeable batteries deliver improved runtime over traditional lithium-ion batteries. The aqueous chemistry of silver-zinc rechargeable batteries has powerful safety advantages over traditional lithium-ion batteries. Zinc Matrix Power batteries contain no lithium or flammable liquids and are free from the problems of thermal runaway, fire and danger of explosion. Silver-zinc batteries are not subject to airline restrictions or the new USDOT airline travel safety precautions. The key components of silver-zinc battery technology can be 100 percent recycled and reused, making it an earth-friendly alternative to many of today’s existing battery technologies.
Zinc Matrix Power won last year’s Intel “Technology Innovation Accelerated” (TIA) Award in the Mobility category with its battery technology.
